I think Musicworks is the Peavey dealer. I don't know much about high gain amps so I'll reserve my vote. Sorry.

Yeah - Music works is the NZ Peavey agent. I've seen them at Atwaters Music Works in Hobson Street Auckland

In this town, Musicworks is represented by Beggs. To say the staff are totally useless in the area would be praising them.

I went in on 4 occasions to buy PV gear and they didn't know their derriere from their humerus.

So I bought from the PN Rockshop and was very well looked after.

I have a friend who used to have the 5150. It's a nice amp. He used the full stack.
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

yeah i was having a blast on a nice thunderbird the other day, and was stumped by the peavey amp i was trying it through - the switch is on the back at the top right when reaching round from the front, but there's a miriad of lights and buttons on the front to confuse you.

well that's where it was on the one i was trying anyway, so it's probably the same deal.

There is no clean channel on the 5150. There is distortion and mega distortion.

Get any of the Engl's in my opinion- way more versatile then any of the other options.

Steve Morse gets a fairly decent clean tone and he has about 4 of them running at once. :P

If you want super, mega, hyper, ultra, uber distortion. You want a "Randall Warhead". 300watts each. Dimebag Darryl playes like 6 at once.

Then its probably not the 5150. The clean channel breaks up *really* early.

Is his tone clean, or slightly dirty?

And does he roll his volume right back?

They are definitely 5150s, I assume he rolls the volume right back then. But if it's miked then it will jsut be quiet and then pumped through the PA.

id go mesa all the way, more expensive, but so much betta in my opinoin, they sound so much fuller and thicker than marshall, and just betta than marshall in everyway but the price, i see marshall as cheap mesa's, but they aint that obviously but thats wot i think of them, mesa is the real deal to me.
the only way to decide man, is go into the shop with ur pedels and guitar, ask to crank it up, and wot sounds best cranked should be the way to go, outta all the amps ive played on, mesa sounded the best cranked up, and it was also the dearest, but i dnt care, i want that sound and ill pay every cent for it if i have to.
success is fleeting, but artistry lasts forever.
