Re: Guitar related plugins
I still think the Scuffham S-Gear holds up pretty well. UAD makes some decent ones, but they take a lot more tweaking. Key advantage there is the low latency with UAD interfaces.
Honestly, those demos sound so polished, it's hard to tell what the plugins themselves sound like...

Re: Guitar related plugins
IGNITE AMPS are good free guitar plugins.
Emissary is a good dual channel guitar tube amplifier emulation. And NadIR is a great zero latency, dual Impulse Response loader for cab emulation (light on the CPU as well so even your laptop bricks can run it easily).
Those two have been my guitar plugins before I switched over to NeuralDSP's Archetype: Plini.

The aesthetics above are too clean for me! Need that "reliced" UAD look. If you're getting skeuomorphic, why not go all the way??

I hope that a few times a year you need to spend and extra $100 to replace a microphonic preamp tube (emulation).wavesofffear wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 2:29 pm The aesthetics above are too clean for me! Need that "reliced" UAD look. If you're getting skeuomorphic, why not go all the way??
Go for true realism.

Re: Guitar related plugins
as an aside, apparently interface skeuomorphism is back in vogue, maybe not to the extent that it was at its height, but there's a backlash towards flat interfaces.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Re: Guitar related plugins
Ignite amps have some cool free stuff. I use 'The Anvil' a 3-channel Guitar Amp VST, sounds decent.
I also use 'NadIR' their free dual IR loader VST.

Re: Guitar related plugins
Speaking of amp sims, I recently switched over to using the Friedman Buxom Betty by Plug-in-Alliance. Fuck me it sounds good, and only $19.99 US at the moment.

I gave that a whirl last week. Unfortunately I found it quite underwhelming.jeremyb wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:45 pm Strymon has entered the plugin market!
