Advice for cap value for Vox style high cut mod

Post by griff »

Hey guys.
I'm gonna have another go at a High cut dial for my amp. Originally I used a .0047uf cap with a 250k pot. I found it cut too much of the good upper freqs and dulled the tone a bit too much. Also, the taper was pretty bad, a good 2/3 of the dial had no effect.
Was thinking of trying a different value to target higher freqs. Maybe .0022?
Should I try a different pot value too?
Any gurus with advice would be awesome.

Smaller value pot, try both linear and audio taper. Can’t comment heaps on the cap value.

The value of the pot and cap will depend on the impedances of the circuit you are inserting them into.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...
