Peavey vk212 - popped it apart to do a couple simple mods you'd struggle to see.

Brightness mod - remove one capacitor (clipped one leg and moved it)
Gain boost mod - remove one resistor (clipped as above)
Made the delay in switching channels go away - dropped the value of one resistor from about a zillion to 510ish k.

Thought it was time to resurrect this thread and get Strummer's new Bassman clone in here. First this. Couple of shots of the Dr Z EZG (Super Reverb derived). Taken from YouTube. Amp hasn't reached me yet. Do like the nice, clean layout you find in a Dr Z.

And here's Strummer's Bassman:

Looks like some sensible quiet grounding with a marshal style floating ground thingy. I did the same in.my 6g15 stand alone clone to good effect .

Less wires = less tone?

Probably = just one tone. In this case the SRV El Mocambo tone (that's what it was built to do). What more could any self-respecting Stratophile need?

God is in the detail as, I think, they say.

Taking a look at a mates Marshall 6100LM 30th Anniversary as its been sounding a touch crap but was tempted to move on. This thing makes my eyes water internally.. think I'll stick to JCM800/JMP designs.. The darker tube was seemingly the culprit, but couldn't help myself but to nose inside for any cap swelling..

Most usually about $2400 worth of parts soldered together to make a $3,000 amp. :-)
fixed

Yer.. too many IC's for my liking... if it went really wrong I'd hate to own it.

1997 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Tremoverb board.

So much stuff in there but all decent brands like the F&T, Philips, Sprague caps and Switchcraft jacks. Good to see they don't screw around and on a personal note I really like it when amp builders line up all the filter caps the same way.

There's a section to the left of this where the switches live but it's pretty standard stuff.
