low watt with reverb

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

Hi all. Got lots of actual work I should be doing and many educational and professional commitments so clearly time for more hair brained amateur hour amp building....

I am planning on building my dad an amp for christmas this year. Hes really "past participle of get" back into guitar since retiring. Used to gig every week in a dance band.
Id like to build something low watt with reverb. Like the princeton reverb, but different as ive all ready built one of those.
Wondering about a champ platform with reverb...but i guess that is essentially the princeton.
He's a fender guy through and through and itll be exclusively for home/family jams. But presently all he has is a little solid state ZT lunch box that I bought for him a few years back.

I dobnt want to just buy a big expensive kit and slap it together. I plan to personalise the build somewhat.

Essentially id go for a single ended 6v6 style or similar 5-12watt, full length spring reverb, 10" speaker.
Ill build a pine cab
the chassis ill try and source or build.

Just looking for ideas/inspiration at this stage.
Thanks

Cheaper on K'Road, easy to spot too in the lava-lavas!

I don't really need more projects, but this sounds fun. Let me know what schematic you will end up with and I'll may do one too...

6V6 and Reverb - Yes.
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Im sure youll do a better job. And probably fashion the chassis from a fence pole.

Im tending towards a champ/vibro-champ platform with reverb.

If there are a few people keen we could order 3 chassis from a maker in the states and split the postage??
