A few home brews
Thought I would try my hand at making some of these PedalPCB.com clones. Made a BE-OD (purple) and Angry Charlie (fluro orange) first up, and have an OCD to go. Haven't labelled em up, I'm a touch lazy so might not get to it but here ya go.
I moved the internal trim pot on the BE-OD to an external pot as it seemed quite useful to have external when test driving the pedal. Unfortunately its kinda close to the actual foot switch, but easy enough to miss.
Fun to do, pretty cheap overall but have no idea how they compare to the originals.

Re: A few home brews
That certainly is a whole lot of knobs to twiddle.

Yer.. I forget what they all are too when sitting in front of it, so I'll likely have to put some kind of label on them. From memory Level/Gain/Tight/Presence/Bass/Mid/Treble and the overall gain which I moved outside.
They both sound pretty cool, but not spent too much time twiddling different sounds. They aren't super noisy either which is nice.

Re: A few home brews
Umm good question, will have to check the schematic. The caps and ops amps are all capable of more than 9, but I'll check. Might make my chosen LED current limiting resistor choice a little poor though.Candeevr4 wrote:Is the purple one 9v or 9 & 18v capable?

Why on Earth they put that trimpot on the inside of the BEOD is a mystery to me. It needs to be on the outside - well done!!!!

Yer I had the trim on the inside at first, but found I was constantly fiddling with it and it makes quite a massive difference, so got a 100k pot and drilled another hole. I'm not a fan of knobs on the sides of pedals, so was kinda limited to locations.AiRdAd wrote:Why on Earth they put that trimpot on the inside of the BEOD is a mystery to me. Re: A few home brews
I did a quick look at the op amps I used from Texas Instruments, and looks like they are +/- 15 v max. So picking that means a no go....Candeevr4 wrote:Is the purple one 9v or 9 & 18v capable?

Re: A few home brews
Lucky last with the bits I have laying about, an OCD V2 clone. A bit different sounding as no LED clipping in this one.
I couldn't find any TO-92 2N5457 FETS's without mental postage pricing, so had to use the surface mount adapter boards pedalpcb offer, but came out pretty good. The packaging for the x3 middle electros was a little large also, but they still fit in there.
Now to add some labels, as buggered if I can recall what all the purple units knobs all are. Then on to recapping/rebuilding this old Peavey Triumph
Purple - Dirty Shirley / BE-OD Hybrid
Orange - Angry Charlie
Blue - OCD v2

Re: A few home brews
Knocked up number 4 over the weekend. Its a Friedman Golden Pearl clone, so named appropriately for the chosen colour scheme. (even found my bag of purple LED's)
Still tinkering with it, but good sounding boost so far. Not a big fan of the flat switches I tried this time, they are a bit flimsy compared to the normal round shafted ones, they work fine and look o.k, so oh well.
The orange one is an Angry Charlie v3 clone, so named after a workmate with red hair that sometimes gets a little flustered
