Some stars must've managed to align themselves, and I unexpectedly took ownership of a Travis Bean TB1000S on the last day of my US trip. Serial #374 (there are about 1400 of them in existence). It was probably someone's "player" guitar as there are lots of paint chips and some minor mods that've since been reversed. Beautiful sounding guitar and these 40-year old pickups work surprisingly well for high gain tones, not super hot but very crunchy with lots of clarity and note separation.

When Steve Albini was in town some years ago I got to have a quick play on his TB500, I found it's not as meticulous made as modern aluminium necks like EGC or Bastin, since these were made before CNC machines were common. But as I'm really into aluminium neck guitars I still always wanted a TB. This feels like an interesting middle ground between my full-aluminium EGC and my EGC neck + Warmoth body bolt on, since it has a set-thru metal neck but wood body and fretboard.

You'd have more luck ordering an EGC custom job and receiving it before this one comes up for sale, haha.

Yeeeehaw, Travis sounds like a good old boy from Tennessee. I bet those country chicken pickin' licks you play sound mighty twangy on that.

I paid less than what people ask for on Reverb but it's far from the deal of the century either.

that's a cool guitar, I always wanted one in the 80`s. you would see the odd one about. the odd TB Bass here and there, then nothing for 20 years. I didn't realise they were so rare. I like em a tad more than the Kramer alum neck

I've noticed a lot of stuff seems pricey on Reverb. Starting to think maybe it's because the overpriced stuff sticks around. Well, maybe.

NZ price is a tad cheaper for some stuff. Reverb puts my Strat at about 2K
last one on trade me hardly made 1200.
and dont get me started on ***** I`m selling mine for under half of what they have sold for on reverb.
ehem

The key trick is add &showsold=true after the search url, like this:

https://reverb.com/marketplace?query=tr ... _at%7Cdesc

Then it'll show the listings that've actually been sold as well (indicated by a little "sold" sign on the upper left corner).
