NGD, 74 Les Paul Deluxe boat anchor
The only non original bits are the Kluson tuners, one of the volume knobs and the pickguard. Thankfully he'd even kept the original pots and caps. She sounds awesome. I've got a Sheraton with mini hums so I was well aware of what they sound like. This beast to me sounds like a louder, less hummy Telecaster in the bridge.
Still a couple of little bits to touch up before she's finished but as a functional gat, she's all there.

Love it!
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

Cool as, so did you put all the old pots back in?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Yep, put them back. The old owner reckoned they were scratchy and rubbish but it turns out they're fine. Here's some more photos; It has had a headstock break at some stage but it was fairly clean and not through the veneer. The repair is solid as.jvpp wrote:Cool as, so did you put all the old pots back in?

Very cool, love gold tops.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

very cool guitar lots of character.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Lovely old thing. Tell you that you've played 'Don't dream it's over' on it
Re: NGD, 74 Les Paul Deluxe boat anchor
That's stunning, if only that guitar could speak. Great to see it going to someone that has the knowledge, care and sense to restore it back to it's original state.

Looks nice - liking the gold top! So a 3 piece neck, and two piece body?
