1976 Gibson Explorer LE
Finally, I finished this thing. Going for a '58 Korina Explorer spec.
New frets, wiring, pickups (OX4 with Throbak covers), tuners ('58 Explorer style), pick guard etc from MojoAxe, aged knobs, bone nut, new saddles and screws on original ABR.
Every now and then a guitar truly exceeds your tonal and playability expectations. This is one. It has growl and chime with some mid range honk that I really like. The neck is perfect, especially now I've rounded the corners a little during the refret. It has wear in all the right places (hard to show in these iPhone photos) - I can't wait to gig it.
Better pics will follow.

The comforting look of complete rightness. That is just.... perfect! Well done that Man!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

With this 'G' aversion, I wonder how long Conway will continue to play Guitars?Conway wrote:Feel free to develop your own special prejudices.Bg wrote:begins with a G though.... oh hang on, thats not me is it. Tasty though!

We've been through this before Slowy... My aversion is to manufacturers starting with G, not (lower-case g) guitars in general.Slowy wrote:With this 'G' aversion, I wonder how long Conway will continue to play Guitars?Conway wrote:Feel free to develop your own special prejudices.Bg wrote:begins with a G though.... oh hang on, thats not me is it. Yes, including Godin. Had one, didn't like it.
Don't know any Goodalls though.
