The grain on the body is beautiful is beautiful as well. If it wasn't for those big holes this would have ended up 'silver fox' stain!

Using the truss rod cover from my Epiphone Olympic as a template, I made a new one out of old pickguard material;
phpZ4s6k1PM.jpg
The original is very thin so I had to thin down the B/W/B pickguard piece so its only B/W with a router. I think i'll bevel the edges a touch more so there's more white showing.
I ground out the bottom of the bridge P90 cover so it would sit flat (it was one from a Casino arch top) and would fit under the strings. To check it would work, I put the bridge on and straight edged up the neck to see if I had enough gap. It all looks good. While those parts were on I couldn't resist a mock up to see what she's going to look like;

Starting to get there!

Today it will be wet sanding and possibly some cutting compound to get the shine up. With any luck we could be looking at an initial set up tonight.

Still not quite there yet. A little more work to do on the paint and it's off to Alan Farrow next week for the nut and fret work but here's what she looks like right now;
