The grain on the body is beautiful is beautiful as well. If it wasn't for those big holes this would have ended up 'silver fox' stain!GrantB wrote:Very nicely done...there's some nice movement in that Mahogany.

Re: 1967 Epiphone Coronet restoration.
Using the truss rod cover from my Epiphone Olympic as a template, I made a new one out of old pickguard material;
I ground out the bottom of the bridge P90 cover so it would sit flat (it was one from a Casino arch top) and would fit under the strings. To check it would work, I put the bridge on and straight edged up the neck to see if I had enough gap. It all looks good. While those parts were on I couldn't resist a mock up to see what she's going to look like; Starting to get there!
The original is very thin so I had to thin down the B/W/B pickguard piece so its only B/W with a router. I think i'll bevel the edges a touch more so there's more white showing.I ground out the bottom of the bridge P90 cover so it would sit flat (it was one from a Casino arch top) and would fit under the strings. Re: 1967 Epiphone Coronet restoration.
The clear coats have been done (5 coats last Saturday) and she now looks like this;
Today it will be wet sanding and possibly some cutting compound to get the shine up. With any luck we could be looking at an initial set up tonight.1935 Martin D-45, 1942 Gibson Southern Jumbo,1950 Fender Broadcaster, 1954 Fender Strat, 1958 Gibson Moderne prototype, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Still not quite there yet. A little more work to do on the paint and it's off to Alan Farrow next week for the nut and fret work but here's what she looks like right now;

Looks great. How smooth did you get that big filled area?
