Hah, I was thinking before I left the house that we should bring beer, rather than coffee. (Not that there's anything wrong with Havana coffee mmmmmmm).

Thanks for providing the venue Lawrence. It was great afternoon. There's never quite enough time to get around everybodies awesome gear :( ..I really did like everything I saw and heard. I really wanted to play with the drive channel on Rob's Soldano and P-90 SG...dunno how I missed that. Really like the ESP Mirage too. The Jazzmaster with the tremolo unit was great fun. Cam's new noiseless Dimarzios in his Strat sounded really good during the jam. Good to see everyone! I'll try put some pics up tomorrow :D

Sounds like a good time was had by all. Hopefully Ed & I will make it next time, although I have stuff all gear left now as I've sold all my stuff apart from a couple of Fender Strats and basses and there's nowt special about any of them. For me, it'll be about meeting youse fellas more-so than the gear and anyway beer is for boys. Real men drink Chai Lattes. :D :D

Yeah nah I kinda like the rev how it is. You totally had me checking out Les Paul specials on Ebay though. They're not that expensive either.

Fair enough. The rev is a great sounding guitar. Reissues are pretty cheap. I've seen them go for 1k on trademe. Chuck some Fralins/Lollars/Rio Grandes in there and they'll sound killer. The stock Gibson P90s are meant to be great too but I have only tried one in the bridge of a reissue LP Junior which I didn't particularly like but I think that was more to do with the guitar than the pickup.

Bazinga! so that explains the obsession with purple!

LOL. Silly Lawrence.
The Purple is all to do with me being Emperor of the Enhanced Imperium.
Do try to keep up.
Fall to my feet and while you're down there... can you find my plectrum I dropped - its MOTS purple, of course. :D :D

I know that expression as "a row of pink tents", which sounds very jolly and surreal. :)

LOL, it does indeed. I miss the more colourful (but non-profane) use of our language, but so many great expressions are these days taken to mean something else.

Such as? :)

I've always liked "flash as a rat with a gold tooth" but that's not as common as it used to be either.

To keep this on thread, I'm glad I brought out the electric for once. I'd forgotten the ridiculous amount of grunt you can get from an EB type bass. Acoustics are deep but kind of double-bassish and mellow with it, they don't have that heavy rubber-truncheon type sound. Rog probably dislikes EBs just for being Gibsons, but that particular bass used to be painted mauve and that's almost next door to purple.

LOL. No I dislike Gibby EBs because I've had 3 of them and never found any of them to be anything other than muddy in sound. That's fine if that's the sound one is after, but I'm not. I like my bass to have more presence and clarity.

Finally got round to getting these off my phone. Too big to attach to this post, so I've uploaded to FlickR and just linking to the set:

Please excuse the liberal use of the term gat, I was tired and lazy when I was naming them.
