I had a jolly good time - good to meet a few more faces that I haven't seen before, and catch up with a few old ones.
I had a bash on nearly everything in the non-stupidly-loud room, my comments:
My pick is the Tweaker. Very versatile, quite transparent, good touch, and the ability to do a respectable sounding version of fender, marshal and vox. Lots of switches for a small amp. Only 15 watts, but all my other amps are around that level and I would gig it. Might not have enough guts for heavy overdrive players, but for people like me who run pretty clean to moderate overdrives at most I think it's fantastic value for money.
The other Egnaters were also pretty good sounding. The 30watt head and cab version would be great for people that need that kind of wattage. The ability to blend EL84 - 6L6 sounds, and change the headroom, I think is a very useful and interesting combination.
Had a good blast through Simon's iRig. I'm very taken by it. Sounded really good through the PA. Good emulations and the ability to add samples, play along with iTunes tracks etc was good. Tilting the iPhone for wah is hilarious fun.
Really enjoyed Benderissimo's Robins. Those are very nice guitars.
Had a blast through the famous 'offensive' green and pink monstrossity. Plays quite well. Also loved the pink tele. There's another Radian tele custom there that I liked, and the red 3xP90 Jazzmaster was a hit although there was wide ranging debate over the size of the neck. Opinions varied from 'too much' to 'way too much.' Also, Capt Black's Tokai Love Rock has a nice feel to it, though I didn't get to run it through an amp.
Anyway, thanks muchly to Capt Black for the use of the venue, the provision of bbq and beers, and being a good bastard. Thanks also to Adrian and Simon for bringing down so much mint gear, and thanks to everyone else that showed up!
