I had a jolly good time - good to meet a few more faces that I haven't seen before, and catch up with a few old ones.

I had a bash on nearly everything in the non-stupidly-loud room, my comments:

Amps:
My pick is the Tweaker. Very versatile, quite transparent, good touch, and the ability to do a respectable sounding version of fender, marshal and vox. Lots of switches for a small amp. Only 15 watts, but all my other amps are around that level and I would gig it. Might not have enough guts for heavy overdrive players, but for people like me who run pretty clean to moderate overdrives at most I think it's fantastic value for money.

The other Egnaters were also pretty good sounding. The 30watt head and cab version would be great for people that need that kind of wattage. The ability to blend EL84 - 6L6 sounds, and change the headroom, I think is a very useful and interesting combination.

Had a good blast through Simon's iRig. I'm very taken by it. Sounded really good through the PA. Good emulations and the ability to add samples, play along with iTunes tracks etc was good. Tilting the iPhone for wah is hilarious fun.

Guitars:
Really enjoyed Benderissimo's Robins. Those are very nice guitars.

Had a blast through the famous 'offensive' green and pink monstrossity. Plays quite well. Also loved the pink tele. There's another Radian tele custom there that I liked, and the red 3xP90 Jazzmaster was a hit although there was wide ranging debate over the size of the neck. Opinions varied from 'too much' to 'way too much.' Also, Capt Black's Tokai Love Rock has a nice feel to it, though I didn't get to run it through an amp.

Anyway, thanks muchly to Capt Black for the use of the venue, the provision of bbq and beers, and being a good bastard. Thanks also to Adrian and Simon for bringing down so much mint gear, and thanks to everyone else that showed up!

Seems to be a crowd pleaser this amp, must say i had no complaints when i tried it out (both with th 3xp90 baseball bat and goldtop radian).

BYO reverb and off you go!

That lack of reverb thing doesn't bother me as I never use it. It does have an effects loop though, so could be added easily.

Thanks to all those involved in the Gearfest a great way to spend a sunday afternoon

I have to admit I was in bed by 7 pm I must be getting old or running on flat batteries after this endless bite you again flu

On the Chch side we seem to have got off lightly lost a mixer which caught a speaker and a few panes of glass still have to have a good look at the building

I tried it for a short while.

Initially it sounded really really nice, but there was a dicky valve or something making it do strange things, so I stopped.
