I'd consider buying one of the Harley Bentons off Thomann, all that stuff seems to review really well, grain of salt etc...

G&L are very hard to beat. Killer build quality, and extremely cheap second hand.

Re: Cheap Tele Style ?
I tried out some guitars at lunchtime today...
Ibanez Talman - quite a nice guitar, feels pretty small and has a skinny neck so not for me, does have a bit of a budget feel $495 (Sale price)
Vintage Strat - couldn't find a Tele so to just to get an idea... again nice guitar, a few little blemishes in the build, eg nut fitment but overall worth the price $599
Squire Tele - has a budget feel to it, fret ends a bit rough but again not terrible for $499
G&L Asat Tribute - really nice guitar, good size neck, excellent finish, plays and sounds great $999
Squire Classic Vibe - Surprised me ! I really liked this, finish and build are great, neck feels nice and frets really well finished $799 (discounted)
So... Squier CV is my pick because it looks like a Tele should and nearly all the Fender parts will fit if i want to customize it one day. G&L came a close second though.

Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

A $20 pick guard and 10mins with a soldering iron and it could be an Esquire.

I have one of those, exact finish, with red tortoiseshell pickguard. They're great guitars, I even liked the pickups. Unfortunately mine needs a fret job since I got it super cheap.

I too have a very similar one with really low frets, but I can't bring myself to sell it haha. It's been an awesome project guitar.
They come up every now and then though, hopefully you can find one.
There is a bound Squier Classic Vibe on FB for a reasonable price by our old mate Dominic.
