Can't really see the reasoning, surely the ends are going to always eat into the bridge until stuck, there's not a lot of wood around some of those holes and even the stress is on the glue not the top, obviously they've made it work ok if Oleg liked it

Here’s why it is done this way (Pinless)

Lowden use Pinless bridges too, so they must be a good idea :)

Aye, it's nice to be able to discuss acoustics. Then again, if I do less "discussing" and more playing I, and my wallet, would be in a much better state.

To be fair, they do look fucking horrible on there....
Ball ends always look horrible, but would you have a stroke?
He's stroking his bell end right now, is that what you mean?

Did wonder what jeremy meant - thanks for clearing this up.

I think he's having an epileptic fit in the corner right now...

It LOOKS like he's having an epileptic fit in the corner...

Cool! Does it have the crank inside the body to adjust the tension on the top? That spun me out the first time.

Not in this one. I have no ideas what models have those. I think the next size up, Concerto, has it.

You've had a Breedlove before? Can't say I've seen them around much. Having said that, didn't Rockshop use to carry the brand?

I have a 5 string bass. Made in China. I bought mine from MusicWorks but you're right RS used to carry the brand, too.

I've never really bonded with it, as the top is cedar and I much prefer spruce.

Cedar has this weird compression thing happening which sounds rich and warm when you use your fingers (like most bass players) but I, alas, am a pick player. With cedar, I am forever trying to get the sound I want past the instrument.

Here's the bridge truss thing I was talking about.

I had a pin break on me once. It sort of snapped in half. Major disaster, the bass was useless till the next day, which wouldn't happen with pinless.

Yup, I knew what you were talking about. I did some research into their stuff prior to inheriting Oleg's.

Myrtlewood is a rather interesting beast. I'm still figuring out how to best play it. A nice challenge to have since the guitar is very nice to hold and play.

Looks like quite a unique acoustic, I can imagine that sounding rather wonderful.

Congrats!
