NGD: Sigma
Actually I've had this for a fortnight now. Been playing it pretty well constantly and I'm really loving it. I know D28s (of which this is a sort of replica) are famed for boomy bass, but this sounds well-balanced to my ears—perhaps because of the swanky 'parabolic tension' strings the seller put on it, which he said had a balancing effect. I presume because of the all-solid construction (adirondak spruce top, madagascar rosewood back and sides), it's evident how composed it sounds when played with a bit of vigour.
Aesthetically it's maybe a little plain-Jane compared to some of the acoustics posted round here lately, but I think it looks classy. Love the fingerboard and headstock binding and the grainy ivoroid tuners. I've never had a guitar with an ebony fingerboard before, so that's something new—feels great.
Anyhow, I'm very happy with it, and getting back into playing again after being a bit inconsistent the last year or two.

Love the tone of a dreadnought.
What model is it?
Only 150 made with these woods, according to internet. Not sure how true that is as it's not numbered or anything.
Came in a very nice case also. Groovy purple interior, and the Sigma logo actually embroidered on the lid (i.e., in the tolex).

Wow... that's gorgeous! Looking at the specs it seems to have fairly wide, fingerstyle type nut width. May I ask where you found this gem? I seem to recall checking out this brand around NZ once, but can't recall seeing this model.

Yes, just under 1.75" nut width. One of the many things that sold me on it.codedog wrote:Wow... that's gorgeous! Looking at the specs it seems to have fairly wide, fingerstyle type nut width. I snagged it on TradeMe for a very reasonable price. I believe the seller brought it back from Europe or got it from a European vendor prior to CITES regulations.

That's just grand. That nut width used to really put me off, until I started playing a dreadnought with the standard 1 11/16" nut. It feels a bit cramped TBH.twangnsnarl wrote:Yes, just under 1.75 nut width. One of the many things that sold me on it.codedog wrote:Wow... that's gorgeous! Great score! Has anyone called dibs on it?

Re: NGD: Sigma
This came from a seller in Wellington, I believe? If so then I've played it before and after the Santa Cruz strings went on (and against my initial hopes I preferred the strings that were on it before, 12-53 PB, unsure of the brand). A nice sounding guitar that felt like it hadn't quite opened up yet, and would only get better and better with a lot of playing over time. Nice score.
