New signature coming out next year! It seems he has ditched the AT-1 humbucker. I have always had a huge battle with that one in my Pacifica with 2 pots. It's very bright compared to the Cruisers.

What a performance!

Man I hated the tone.
I greatly dislike overdrive on Strat neck pickups so take that with a grain of salt

I wouldn't call that a typical Strat neck pickup though. Assuming only the humbucker was changed then the mid and neck were Cruiser bridge pickups.

its a bloody ibanez, that vaguely resembles a famous fender, they are not the same thing
have to think the coin pick contributes to the tone

Pretty sure he runs his amps clean, getting his drive from a modded BD and a BB preamp. There are two overdrive tones he switches in and out of, one I like and the other not so much. I have no idea what he used for either of them! Could be a pedal each, or one into another...

Love Andys playing and tone, always have. When I was 16 I HAD to get cruisers and a BB preamp because of him. Eventually I got the Lonestar Classic too. Could never quite get the tone right until years later.

Im really not up to play with his gear, but I think he was using a signature JHS pedal not too long ago.

I really dig that singing throaty/bluesy tone. Something I struggle to coax out of my 24 fret guitars. Guess I need another guitar...

That was great - what a masterful performance. Seems sometimes like he's incapable of hitting a wrong note! All those wonderful amps in that room though and he chooses the Mesa

I loved the little harmonics he threw in on the second verse, and I thought the way he covered some of the piano/vocal/guitar work as one was very clever. Don't know if the coin made too much noticeable difference; I've used a 50c coin for the last 15 years or so and I feel it adds a little more brightness and harmonic content... but then there's nothing special about my playing (unlike Andy Timmons). Would be interested to hear how he found it differed compared to using his normal pick.

Thanks for posting this clip up

Unsure I like the pickguard shape around the bottom horn either. First time I saw it I thought he'd broken it somehow before realising it was intended to look like that. I guess each to their own.

Awesome player and song though!

He mentions in the comments of the FB or Insta version of this vid that he's actually changed to neck Cruisers for this new prototype!

It sure looks like they're all Cruisers. Has he got a bridge Cruiser in the bridge position now I wonder...

There might be some justification in accusing me of being an AT fanboi

Lol not for me. As much as I love those players that kind of arrangement is just so "G3 Vai" - overstuffed and excessive and just a bit of a circle jerk
