Yes, a core 408 and my Private Stock is a slightly modified 408. My favourite model. The coil split system which brings in extra windings in the single coil mode is genius.
My favourite so far too I think, though I do like the Low Turn (LT) pickups in the 594.

You might be interested to know that there's a wiring upgrade to the Paul's Guitar.

And the only model that I have kept, out of about 8+ PRS guitars that I've owned over the years.

To me, its a guitar that does its own thing and does it well.

24 fretters are worth all the coin
shorter and stumpy go in the bin
22 fretters are not for the win
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

after I heard that standard 24 I knew something was up with the 22freters.
Probably has more to do with the Standard not having a maple top.

could be, the dude playing it was a monster shredder. might have been a combination.

anyway. don't let fashion dictate the number of frets on your fiddle stick.

that's what my granpappy used to say.

That would've been the main difference between a CU22 and a S24. Their scale length are the same (25"), the extra 2 frets only affected the neck pickup position but didn't make it any "longer".

Not 100% on that. I think the C24 does feel a bit longer. Happy to be corrected but going one to another they do feel different.

Just parted with a major lump of cash for the 408. It's twice the price of the most expensive guitar I've bought to date. That means it will be twice as good and make me twice the player I currently am, right?

I better sell a kidney or something...

I've heard some of your clips, if you become twice the player I'm quitting and taking up the piano.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Got to wait for it to get shipped out first. It's the charcoal burst one that shows up on this page https://www.rockshop.co.nz/search/go?w=prs%20408

Clicking on it doesn't get you any further. Probably because it's sold.

What's special about the 24 fretters?
Nothing much - the neck pickup is a few millimetres closer to the bridge, making it slightly less bassy, as you'd expect. The 24 fretters also tend to be spec'ed with hotter pickups. Which is why I prefer the 22 fret models.
And, a bit like an SG, it might mess with your muscle memory.

I'm not buying the 24 sound better than 22 stuff by the way. IMHO that sounds like something you might read on a forum. ;-)
exactly Molly ... sounds like a complete load of toss to me  . I have a few 24fret guitars and I don't really like them because the necks sit "long" for left arm position to me..oh and the fact I never really go past the 19/20th frets anyway
