upgrades on squier should be easy with fender bits like better pick ups easy fit....the Classic Vibe looks pretty mean too nice pickups already in it.Bg wrote:Still go with the Katana, jb will bend your ear about them I'm sure. No worrisome valves to worrisome about. Basic boss effects built in. Good enough to gig with, quiet enough to practice with.
Nothing wrong with a squier.
Best value for money at the moment is SX if you can find one cheaply. I've had some crackers.

Welcome back guy(s), good to hear from you.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Well if you say it's the way to go then it must be good. I will look in to it more. I just want Some thing simple why is everyone anti using tubes? How will I ever sound like Gilmour?sizzlingbadger wrote:Yep, this the way to go for home use and practice.Bg wrote:oh and things have moved on, I reckon the best bet for an amp for you would be a boss katana 50 watt combo : ) Cheap, reliable and great sounding! As a huge Gilmour fan, he uses so many effects you might as well play into a spider iv, the katana will do all his tones and anything else you wanna do for bugger all, then you have more budget to get a better guitar, which in they long run will be more beneficial!

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Hey Guys I'm back!!! and Looking for a Strat...
I've just been watching you tube vids and looks like BG knows his stuff....The Boss Katana Looks very good for the money. $449 new at Rockshop. My style of music I want to play is mainly clean no gain or crunch or special effects.....still a good amp for that type of tone? and the Squier Deluxe looks real nice too. Hopefully one pops up secondhand soon.
Re: Hey Guys I'm back!!! and Looking for a Strat...
I use my katana 50 pretty much exclusively on the clean channel, and use pedals for any effects. Sounds great imo. They pop up from time to time for around $350 on trademe.

The clean tone is fantastic! I have the 50W and it rules, used to use it only on clean with pedals now just using the amp and it's built in effects, really simple amp to dial in a great tone
