New Eastman Guitar Day

I discovered Eastman guitars about 2 years ago. You seldom see the really nice ones here in NZ (600, 700, 800 series) but they are spectacular instruments. They make their more expensive guitars in using old-fashioned methods and materials. The tops and backs are carved by hand, not sawn and/or pressed, they use really thin nitro finishes, they make 3-piece necks with the middle piece running in the opposite direction to the outer two (like Lowden). They use tonewoods you wish Gibson would use. The construction is super thin and resonant, like old Gibsons or Martins. I could go on.

Anyway, I have been busy.

The blue one is an El Rey semihollow guitar, 2" thick, the centre block runs just as far as the bridge (like a PRS Hollowbody). Top, back, sides are all carved. SD humbuckers (jazz in the front and something hotter at the back)

The acoustic guitar is spruce with flamed maple back & sides. It is 00 size, but a bit more curvy. Has really great projection and lots of highs and lows (it is bipolar :)

The Jazz Box is actually one of their NAMM show guitars, with a floating pickup, mahogany back and sides, spruce top. It is all carved, so is super live and responsive.

Anyhow, if you get a chance to try them, take it. And yes, they are all made in China. I don't care where they come from when they are this good.

Very nice indeed, all of them. Conway is probably on your case for the blue one already.
Loving it so far

Cheers guys, I'm very happy with them. They also make a wonderful 335-type guitar that so far I've managed to resist.

Thanks, yes, it is very pretty. It is arched too, but that does not really show up in the photo. This helps with the strength, so the wood can be cut thinner, which then helps with the resonance and volume.
