check the spec on the silver sky.
Yes. It's in the US bolt-on neck range, not a Core model.

oh right I get ya. sorry I thought the Silver Sky was a high end model. my mistake.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

some of the new PRS US made guitars are sporting Scarf joints and spliced heel blocks.
I cant abide. not for that price anyway. sure on an Ibanez at a lower price point, there prestige range at a higher price don't have scarf joints.
this is going to hurt PRS in my opinion

DOOM N GLOOM

I can live with three way stressed necks, at least they are constructed out of a single piece of Maple.

hmmmm, now I`m thinking, is the Trem an American made one?
A headstock with a good scarf joint will be a shitload stronger than one cut from a single piece of wood like, say, a Gibson style headstock...

It does save a shitload of wastage, but there's really nothing wrong with it, other than there being a visible join.

That being said, I hate seeing this kind of thing:

The ones that blend into the headstock more look much nicer.

to be fair, its a strong joint, and it won't break unlike the usual gibson jointless neck. They'd be better sawing it off and gluing back on in the first place ;)

Yep, but that one I posted is a boutique, handmade jazz box. There are a lot of builders who choose that method specifically because of the added strength. I can't find pics, but I've seen really good ones that are much less visible and not so far down the neck. I had one on a neck that Ash made for me and that was great- it was visible on the front, but not on the back, so I put a veneer on the front and it looked awesome.

Interestingly Jems have a scarf joint, not exactly a low price range guitar.

Almost all Jackson have scarf joint, even on most CS/Masterbuilt ones. Sometimes they just paint the neck in colour so it doesn't show.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

Well done that Man!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Yuk. Why is it that PRS are able to get away with this design without any copyright/IP etc issues?

Why wouldn't they? Plenty of companies do the strat copy thing.

because the strat shape isn't trademarked. Fender was denied attempts to trade mark it in 2009. They do have the headstock trademarked which is why you don't see other companies with the headstock (although I have no idea how parts companies can get away with doing strat head necks like the ones that flood out of china)
If Less is More Then Just Think How Much More More would be

Cheers Willow, didn't realise that the design wasn't protected.

As per my reply to Willow above I was asking from the legal/copyright point of view. Didn't know the design wasn't protected.

Even with that being the case though it's pretty average that a well-known company would do that with a well-known competitor's design, especially with such an iconic design.
