Any Bets This Goes South?
Just in case it actually happens, Anyone in Tauranga heading to Auckland who could help a brother out?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

But thank you for the compliment.

Re: Any Bets This Goes South?
Aww geez. Vendor is refusing to complete sale.
Sets reserve at $199, "But I said $800 reserve in the title".
Your point?
So what do I do?
Show kindness and let him off the hook?
Red face him and walk away?
Be a prick and push the legally binding contract angle?
If he was a noob I'd definitely show compassion, but he has more trades than me and he's in this poop with not one, but two auctions.
Opinions?

I think a little bit of being persuasive would be appropriate.

You hit reserve a week ago. He knew it was 199 reserve, he’s just trying to back out of it.Slowy wrote:Aww geez. Vendor is refusing to complete sale.

If he doesn’t want to go ahead with the sale, there’s probably not much you can do about it. I’d definitely give a red face though.

Re: Any Bets This Goes South?
Yeah. All this I know. I expected him to panic when I hit reserve but he ignored it until the auction closed. Sloppy attitude. I'll probably just prod him for a bit then walk away. Depends on his reply to my last email.AiRdAd wrote:You hit reserve a week ago. He knew it was 199 reserve, he’s just trying to back out of it.Slowy wrote:Aww geez. Pity. I have a black Tele guard that would vastly improve this thing.

Now, just playing devil's avocado here... but do you actually want it? It's hideous and probably a complete POS.

Re: Any Bets This Goes South?
Maybe, but a Cedar/spruce body on a Tele with low output pups could be a thing of beauty. Was prepared to stump up a couple of hand shandy on the chance.bender wrote:Now, just playing devil's avocado here... but do you actually want it? It's hideous and probably a complete POS.

Re: Any Bets This Goes South?
I would just red face and walk away, personally. Why waste more effort and your hard earned trying to pry a less than worthy guitar off someone who can’t even work out how a reserve auction works.
You can make a big stink about it with Trademe though if you want though, I’d just not bother with the guy. Clearly has much regret in letting it go too low.

Quite relieved at this. Glad to hear that you are not buying it for its looks alone !Slowy wrote:

You could run over that thing with a truck and that would also vastly improve its looks.
