Unfortunately I don't have a spare $1500, but it'd be well worth checking out if you're in the market.
Do you mean a Larrivee? They make a D-3R.

No, it was one of these:

I'd never heard of them but Keith said they were a lower price range Martin they made at one stage. However they never really made it to NZ retail. Far nicer than any of the newer lower range Martin's I've played. This is a beauty!

Yeah, that's basically what I thought when playing it! I've got a D35 and the D-3r really, really sounded and played great!

Was playing around with EC's 'Layla' on the D35 this morning. Here's a link if anyone has FB and is interested!
Such great chords in it.

After selling my Taylor 314 to Molly, I went about looking for a small bodied guitar because thats what I thought I wanted (turns out it wasn't).....then bought a D28 (2012). First decent Martin I have owned and I am really impressed. Made my Mini Maton sound and feel like a ukulele. I promptly sold it, No regerts.
Wondering now about Mahogany vs Rosewood, scalloped bracing.....there is a lot to learn.
