Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread
Had a Morris arrive late last week for some repair work. X-brace had come loose from the top and split in half all the way down it's length. Back braces loose too. It was strung to full tension when it arrived (scary!) but still sounded decent. A nice little 000-18 copy

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread
There's a badly abused acoustic sitting in my office these days. There's a good 10 to 15 mm height difference in the top between the lower bout (just behind the bridge) and the upper bout (at the neck joint). The poor thing sits in full sunlight by the window. I used to move it away all the time but everyone keeps just leaving it lying around in full sunlight. They also keep it under full tension and strumming it like crazy. I'm considering filing a hazard register form for it... scary shit...

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread
I find these days I reach for an acoustic more than anything. It's a bit soul destroying when you realise your fretting arm/hand/fingers have even less strength and stamina than you first thought.

I played a 1954 Martin the other day and was rather taken with it. Yes, 1954 I said. And I gave it a good long sniff. It wasn’t smelly in the slightest. Shock horror!

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread
Here's a bit of Pr0n for the lads:
My 1960's Gibson LG0. At the time I was gigging a bit, and needed a second guitar, so I could have one in DADGAD and one in standard. I had my heart set on something completely different from my Lowden, so it had to be small body, dark in tone, good to strum the hell out of. I got interested in these LG series guitars, finally made my mind up and got this on Reverb.com.

This is a ladder braced guitar, and therefore has an interesting sound. Very bark, terrible sustain, not a lot of bass and shouty warm mids for africa. Not everyone's cup of tea but I flipping love it, it's a great, great guitar with a lovely neck. Desert island guitar, this one.

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread
It loves it. Compresses but doesn't break up and sound ragged like most acoustics, including my precious Lowden. I should record a demo sometime.
