So here is my new SG Special.

Gibson seem to have got it right with these models... I love this thing

Nickel TonePro's hardware
Block inlays
24 fret (no silly plastic spacer between the neck and pickup)
Thick rosewood fingerboard
Thin satin finish
500K pots which work really well with the 490 pickups
engraved truss rod cover (not a shitty silk screen print)

Nice! Where's the join, is it a single piece body?

MOAR PICTURES

serious though, interested to see the back and some headstock/ early fret shots.

How’re you finding 24 frets on short scale?

Looks lovely, is it a 2018 model? I actually like unbound Gibson fret boards better, the nibs I find quite annoying on the USA line (Custom so ones are smaller and don't annoy me as much)

I had a similar one a couple of years ago. That guitar was alive! Hugely resonant thing. Congrats.

Dang, if musicians weren't so tight you could make a killing offering an instrument photographing service!!

I’ll get some pics later as I’m out at present picking up a Creamback for my cab yeh! Thanks to Troy

It’s a 2017 model. I don’t play right up at the 20 fret range much but I do like the simple look of the board running right up to the pickup.

Yeah I agree, the fretboard going all the way to the pickup looks nice, and its not like it changes the pickup position at all, might as well have the extra frets.

Probably one of the best bang for buck guitars you could buy, l reckon.

Surprising they engraved a truss cover for the base model.
Very cool.

I prefer playing SGs to LPs. Feel good, sound good. I bet I'd love this thing. Problem is I like the look of the LPs more. I struggle to hear much of a difference between the SG and LP, although it's there. I'd guess a lot of you would agree.

Agree - never thought the extra weight of an LP added much other than extra weight.

Gah, wanting an SG now. Gibson has really been nailing the base models the last couple of years.
