I will ask vern if he's around tomorrow. He'll probably know.

"They look like the ones they put in univox guitars to me. Weird that it has square poles. Or is that just the blur? What do they sound like?"

Re: Vintage Japanese humbucker ID.
Yes, they do have square poles on one side. They're actually 2 rectangle pieces of metal that make up a square. I thought univox too but I can't find photos of any with square poles. Don't know about the sound yet, it doesn't work!

Re: Vintage Japanese humbucker ID.
I've found an old Maxon pickup in my parts bin with similar pole pieces.
The construction is different but it's along a similar vein. I think i'm going to go with Univox on the first one. I'll wire it up today and see if it works.1935 Martin D-45, 1942 Gibson Southern Jumbo,1950 Fender Broadcaster, 1954 Fender Strat, 1958 Gibson Moderne prototype, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Re: Vintage Japanese humbucker ID.
Well it's chocka with all these old pickups I collected in the mid 60's. Most of them are twin coils with little 'patent applied for' stickers on the back. Some are black, some are white, most are a mix of the two. In the early 80's when floyd roses became big, I replaced a lot of bridges on old Strats with them. Thats how I ended up with all these stratocaster trems with big iron blocks and saddles that say 'Fender pat pend'. Not even proper ' Fender Fender' ones! I guess they're all destined for the tip along with this bag of slightly rusty Kluson tuners and a bunch of old neck plates with low 5 digit numbers on them.Single coil wrote:Is your parts bin awesome?
