Yeah grunge didn't actually kill hair metal, it just read it it's last rites.willow13 wrote:so true ... not hard to see why the genre died. I listen to DED a few weeks ago and man the stuff sounds way better than I rememberDanger Mouse wrote:and some awful crap too.willow13 wrote:

Hair metal songs these days remind you how strong the base tunes were beneath the spandex and hairspray. One of the best gigs I've been to was Def Lep from the pure enjoyment side of life.
And Duran Duran, when the whole band reformed in the late 2000s. That kicked arse. And I don't care if your dinner is back in your mouth a second time.

I progressed from Duran Duran to hair metal. Whenever I go back to DD it reminds me that they were actually a great band who knew what they were doing, even if they ended up the equivalent of 1 Direction at their peak.null_pointer wrote:Hair metal songs these days remind you how strong the base tunes were beneath the spandex and hairspray. yeah I was pretty much the same although I never lost interest in DD. I often still listen to them with headphones to hear all the brilliant music going on that isn't obviousDanger Mouse wrote:I progressed from Duran Duran to hair metal. Fun fact: Save a Prayer is in my top 10 favourite songs of all time, for no good reason.

mate noting wrong with liking them...the wedding album and astronaut are stellar. Even red carpet massacre is good. Paper Gods is a bit tough thoughHackSaw wrote:Weird, I always dug Duran Duran, a fact I've kept to myself since about 1984. I never knew there were others out there...
