NGD - Lyle Acoustic

Post by Lyle »

Popped into Cash Converters today to see if they had anything cool and spotted a "Lyle" brand acoustic. Since I don't see many guitars with my name on it and it was only $160 so I had to buy it.

Google says they were made in Japan in the early 70's.

It needs a bit of a clean up. Looks like Mahogany back and sides, the back is bookmatched and has a bit of figuring (I tried to show it in the photos) and a solid bookmatched (spruce?) top.

I don't know much about acoustics but it sounds good to me even with ancient strings on it.

Nice! My only acoustic before this was an old Ashton starter guitar so this is a huge step up. It looks like it's based on a Martin D-28 (despite having the Gibson crown logo on the headstock) and made in the Matsumoku factory.
