Cables - Planet Waves & Fender are what I have mostly, but not fussy TBH

Elixir Nanoweb - 11-49 for E standard, 12-52 for C# standard (not entirely happy with that gauge though... I have also been trying NYXL 12-54. I prefer that gauge, but much prefer the Elixirs for sound, feel and durability).

Dunlop Max-Grip .73 picks. I like quite a bit of flex...

EWI Premium cables.

EB Slinky Hybrids on all guitars. Coated strings sound crap to me. Feel too stiff too. And suck for pick slides/ scrapes and angle picking.

Celluloid picks. Not very durable but sound the best.

Ryan's cables best, but I got a lot of planet waves ones.

Strings: Daddario 10's because they're really cheap in a 10 pack (strings and beyond). Haven't had any issues with them and they keep well in the sealed packs.

Picks: Dunlop jazz 3's cos they're comfy and last forever. Im pretty sure some of the ones I have been using are 6 - 8 years old!

Cables: I make my own with amphenol plugs and mogami cable, but with my band I've been using lava cables (the cheapest type) and they've been great. My biggest concern is durability really.

Telecaster = tuned 2.5 steps down Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky Nickel 11-54's.
Les Paul = STD tuning DR 10's, these were put on by luthier after fret level and setup. I must say they dont go out of tune.

Picks = I have a very odd collection of random findings over the years, need to keep them in Marlboro cigarette tin or inside guitar case so they dont disappear. I do like this thick white pointy jobby I have but cant remember specs or brand or find any more for that matter.

Cables = long, black, one cloth covered, one spiral for practice.

I use buffered strings for the three unwound to maintain the top end but hard bypass for the wound strings to maintain the tone. Long tenon picks just feel better in the hand. I use instrument cables for my guitars and FX and speaker cables for my cab so that my amp doesn't burst into flames due to parasitic oscillation caused by stray capacitance.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Picks: Recently have been using some signature Steve Vai 1.0 mm teardrop they feel great on the strings!
otherwise Dunlop Tortex 0.73 and above..
Cables: Mostly EWI cause I get them cheap, but just got some whirlwind Cables which seem pretty good..

Cables: Planet Waves
Picks: Gravity Picks, they're expensive but it means I'm more conscious of not losing them

Elixir 10-52.
The yellow picks. Sometimes the grey ones, very occasionally the red and the purple, almost never.
Cables: Whatever I've made up out of whatever I currently have. (Making some more tonight actually.)

I plays EB 9s as I've always played lead guitar. Prefer the sound and feel of heavier strings tbh, but for control and speed, the lighter strings work better.

But Picks I struggled with for years... I used to use Jazz III until I met a seasoned guitarist who I was replacing in a band who made his own picks... and gave me one, which I really liked. Which led me to experiment for myself. Now I modify 0.88 Dunlop 'Wedge' picks. I trim back the angle of the sides and shape of the point with sandpaper. I often will make a quick adjustment too if a pick feels a little worn. (I always keep a little sandpaper handy in my pick container.) I like the sound and feel of the 0.88, and now I like shape too.

I recommend experimenting with it. Never been happier, the picks are exactly suited to my playing style and string gauge.
