New Angles
Answer to the second question is yes, but wood choice is more significant. As for construction time, about half that of a curved model.
The real find is the one on the right. That top is Kahikatea and it works really well. Similar character to Adirondak Spruce; bright, loud and doesn't compress.
I love that there's guys out there who keep asking themselves original questions then head out to the workshop to build the answer.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: New Angles
Yes, they definitely look cubism inspired. Perhaps the colour scheme and some graphics could reflect that. They could be perfect for Ponsonby Road cafe gigsDharmajester wrote:Is he big on Picasso?

I think I like the look of the one on the left the most - seems to embrace its uniqueness a bit easier

Agreed. I told Tony as much. He was looking at adding more angles and I suggested it was the wrong direction.TmcB wrote:I think I like the look of the one on the left the most - seems to embrace its uniqueness a bit easier
He also thinks that solid colour finishes will suit them best.

Slowy: Does the one hiding in the corner on the right have a raised fingerboard and a negative neck angle?

So what difference does it make to the sound?

Timber combinations: Considerable. My favourite by far is Kahikatea top, Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides. Similar to Spruce/ Mahogany. He has one (not shown) that is Rosewood with a Rosewood top as well. Sounds great; big and bold.
Must've built well over 100 by now. Even he's not sure anymore.
