yea I think the guys at fender cried when they looked at the first Fenders coming out of japan for one reason only.
they were about to loose there jobs.
Personally I'd take MIA over MIJ etc any day. but only for the measurable quantity not the plastic marketing BS that Fender drown us in.
I really don't like the wood the Koreans use, simple as that.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Was watching Paul Reid Smith give an on stage blurb the other day. He said he went over to India to see where and how the Indian rosewood species is sourced. He reckons it is collected from downed trees after the monsoons hit and that people gather it up for the government to buy (if you buy that story). He says he has a record of source from tree to his factory, so CITES is no barrier to him, although more paperwork. Switch to PRS if you prefer Rosewood I guess.
