Speaking of sweet sigs, here's a question that has struck me before. If there's a particularly nice bit of signature kit, would you buy it even if you dislike the namesake? I guess "dislike" covers a spectrum. Feel free to elaborate on that and other relevant points.

I have a Sammy Hagar (?!) Washburn which was actually my main go to for a few years. Acoustic bridge on a solid body and a mini humbucker. Definitely didn't go looking for that one because of the endorsement!
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

Absolutely love the Jeff Beck Strat. If I ordered a Custom Shop Strat, it would 95% be that guitar.

that is actually a really really good question.
I was going to say Eddie Van Halen, but I like Eddie but I don't really like Van Halen (just never got into the songs). I would guess I have only really heard about 20% of the output Eddie has done but there is nothing about his playing that I don't like so I should rule him out...would own any of his sigs in a heart beat (well apart from the red Frankie...never liked it)

Was then going to say Schenker, but again nothing about his playing I don't like but just never liked any of the bands he's been in  ..so he's out

so yeah great question

I'm fickle enough that if there was a really nice guitar which was the sig of someone who I didn't like, then no, would not buy :mental:

Because I've played one.
The price was bordering on laughable.
The guitar was utterly, utterly beautiful in every way.

The price though.....
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Ditto. I'd assume that speaks for most people. Unless you simply didn't know it was a sig model in the first place, but that's not applicable to guitar-forum-nuts.

Follow up question: if you had a signature guitar of someone you really liked, but then they made a shit record (or did something vile) would you then wish to be rid of the guitar (regardless of how good it is)?
