Anyway, it's not a dark-sounding guitar at all. Sounds almost single-coil. Bright and resonant an' all that malarkey. Goes without saying that it's immaculately finished. Makes me sound better than I am.
What pickups are those? 59/08's?
Glad you're happy with how it sounds, the looks, weight, and feel are just an icing on the cake.

That singlecut looks like a core model, with the color and top. I just realized it's an SE when I saw the second photo. Those SE 245s are packing some serious tone, top carve is not far from the core ones.
Where'd you get those trussrod covers? They look awesome.
The SE 245 has had numerous upgrades actually. It's a fantastic guitar but I just can't gel with it for some reason.
The covers are custom made by me out of recycled rimu from a friend's house. That's my late dog on them.

How does it stack up with the hulk Brian

Not having it to hand I have to go by memory. This one is certainly the more 'alive' of the two and I definitely prefer the pickups - Hulk pickups were nothing to write home about. The old one would've perhaps been better suited to high-gain stuff.
What's clear to me is that PRS continue to develop their guitars even if the model name stays the same. If you offered to trade me the old one back plus the cash difference this one cost me (about an additional $1,100) I wouldn't be interested.
I currently have the S2 Standard 22 and SE 245, and one had the SE Bernie Marsden. While the SEs are fantastic value guitars something about the neck doesn't feel as good as the S2, let alone core models. I'm pretty sure it's the frets. Material? Dressing? Shape? All of the above? Not sure...
Am I being a precious petal or has anyone else noticed this?

I think those stripped-down S2s are cool guitars (which, to be honest, isn't something people often say about PRS). Well priced too.
Watched Bernie Marsden demo his guitar in an Andertons video through a really simple Marshall and zero effects. Sounded great. Well, he made it sound great.
Aaaaand... that's exactly where I end up sounding like a precious petal. I can't make a $10K guitar sound great, quite the opposite of the likes of Bernie Marsden!

Naaaa. Don't ever think your gear has to be somehow in proportion to your ability.
Black Slate, Purple Hazel, McCarty Sunburst, Charcoal Burst, Faded Whale Blue and Livingston Lemondrop?
That's a nice 594 you got, how do you like the asymmetrical neck?
Spot on with the colours.
I like the neck on the 594. The guitar overall is one of the best I have ever played. This model has had lots of hype but PRS have delivered a great product regardless.

Those trussrod covers are fun to make with the proper tools, personally I like the wood finish compared to the stock plastics. Perhaps PRSh would add that on the next core models, sans the artist, WL and PS options.
