Good eye - the original snot green tip tuners are in the case along with all the original hardware. These tuners are modern Kluson with better tips...not sure make this type of tip anymore. Not happy with the most recent Klusons. Sloppy.faceless wrote: What tuners are those? Non stock I reckon? Awesom R9, the late 90's reissues are quite a character!

Re: Show us your Lesters!!!
Certainly it would have had mini hb when it was made. But this one was converted over some time ago. On the older models like this one, the mini hbs were fitted via an insert that I think was much the same size as the larger factory hb route, so no (or very little) routing is necessary when you convert.faceless wrote:I always thought deluxe would have the mini hb stock. I see some with HB but were routed at a latter time. But I guess that colour and a HB spec would make the exception.olegmcnoleg wrote:Buggrit, this thread needs less flame...
It is a '72 deluxe, with a very rare factory sweet cherry red finish (not to be confused with wine red). It is not heavy, weighs 9lbs. Lollar Imperials fitted, the volume pots are push-pull to split the coils and the tone pots are push-pull to swap the tone capacitor values (moving it from thick to bright tone).
I like mini hbs, but not on a lester.

Re: Show us your Lesters!!!
I can't be certain but I think his refinishes generally come out a different colour. Love this colour of burst. Grabbed my eye immediately. Always loved the gold top look but had to have a burst!faceless wrote:I love relic finishes, I have read a few about these LP USA models conversion to 59s etc, and they seem to look cool. I love the cracking on the finishes and tarnished hardware.bluesierra wrote:I have a stock standard Gold Top Traditional and just picked this up from a cool little shop in Hong Kong called Guitarsofa.
It's a Nash conversion Gibson. Basically a traditional thats had some upgrades and a relic style refinish. Don't know a whole lot about them and I know the relic thing isn't for everybody, but it plays great and sounds great and I dig the looks too. So all in all pretty happy.
Is that the stock colour or did he refin it as well? Cool looking burst!

Re: Show us your Lesters!!!
I used to have a LP Custom in ivory that had gold tulip tuners with wee crank handles that folded out of the ends. Never seen them before or since. Were they standard fitment for a while or do you think they'd been fitted by a previous owner?GrantB wrote:Good eye - the original snot green tip tuners are in the case along with all the original hardware. Edit: Bit of Google says early 80s. Another one I should've kept...

I think these are part of the historic "correct" upgrades that started in their 2013 line or at least looks like it, almost transparent and you can see the metal inside compared to those snot opaque tips. It really looks coolGrantB wrote:Good eye - the original snot green tip tuners are in the case along with all the original hardware. Re: Show us your Lesters!!!
Cheers, I have been fortunate over the years to have picked up some really nice guitars. I have let a few go though which I wish I hadn't... a great darkback R4 and a 68 Les Paul Custom came and went. The ones I have now are keepers.StratMatt88 wrote:That's one helluva collection you have there opsguy!
