Raz's explanation is pretty much on the money. There's more though, but I won't rack my brain trying to decipher it all into plain English! As well as the frequecy soaking, there is active resonance and an interaction between the body and strings physically through the pickups. Also the resonant behaviour of the neck is waaay more importanct than most supposedly learn'ed people understand.

Of course I still thing the single biggest factor is the crap we've all read in "Guitar Player" and online for the last zillion years about what's good and what's not...

There's really only one answer to poor tone....MORE POWER and tons of distortion.

I recommend at least 2000W of valvle amp.... that's about 40 KT88's...
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Either that or just use a Metal Zone. That will SURELY improve your tone. :D

Or maybe try chaining twenty or so of them together..... *shudder* :? :lol:
