I've seen/read about dingwall B4 - seems a tad too weird for me too!
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Thing is, it makes sense from the point of view of physics. Look at a piano. Each note is a different guage as well as a different length. Problem is, how do you get used to it?

Thinking on the Tokai thing. Reminds me of when Ibanez was making better Les Pauls than Gibson back in the 70's. Only they were dumb enough to actually put the Gibson logo on them. As I recall, those Ibanez guitars were more sought after than the real thing for the year or two following that lawsuit. One sold on eBay a couple of years back for US$1,600. I bid on it but stopped at $750. The only way John Q. Public could tell if it was an Ibanez or not was the bolt on neck. Didn't say Ibanez on it anywhere.

I was fortunate to only own one Fender guitar that was made in the 80's. It was a 1989 American Deluxe Tele PLUS. I bought it because it was so unusual. Ebony fret board instead of Rosewood. Humbucker at the bridge (not the neck) with a mini toggle for splitting the bucker into separate singles. Schaller Locking tuners. Wilkinson Roller nut and a 2 point synchronized Trem like the one they still put on AD Strats today. I sold it because I hated the sound of the Lace Sensors but looking back I wish I still had it. I have never seen another Tele like it. I feel sure that given another decade it would build some kind of collector value even despite the commonly hated Sensors just on the merit of it being so rare. They only made that model for one year (or so I've been told) and mine was the only example I have ever seen.
