SG project

Post by Rog »

I bought an old dunger SG copy from Trademe, so I'd have something to hone my refin skills on before I do my Fender.

One never knows with these things, it might even turn out to be a player. I do a number of Harley Davidson rider gigs and birthday parties etc and if it works out, I'd feel happier taking an old beater there than risking my Strat. If it turns out to be an early Samick, I can offload it again - hopefully in better condition than it currently is.

I haven't decided on any colours yet, but red or white are in there at the mo'. It certainly will be a solid colour - and NO flames - LOL

I noticed that on Trademe. Wondered what it would be like. Look forward to hearing what state it's in. 8)

Just been talking to the seller. He's an old geezer like me and has quite a collection of gear which he deals with. He'd like to get back into playing but reckons there's no market for old guitarists in Auckland.

However - a real nice, genuine bloke.

Heh - in the latest GW there's an interview with some "pop-punk" band I've never heard of (being one of said old farts :P ), and the guy(s) in the band was saying how recently all the bands sound the same, so that's why they're playing the stuff on their latest album.

Most current bands sound the same with the exception on the Darkness.

Can't wait until Drop D tuning Nu metal clowns fall of the face of the earth.

Hi Rog your new gat looks to be a Japanese knockoff of an early 80's Gibson SG - I reckon it's adn Ibanez (seen and ad for one somewhere) so you've probably done pretty well. In an earlier question/answer the seller said the body was plywood but here's the real kicker - about that time to compete with the el-cheapo overesas threat Gibson actually put out a very short lived but plywood-bodied Les Paul shaped guitar. Don't think they did an SG shape-but you never know.

Whatever the heck - for a couple of hundred dollars nowdays you don't get much although a few years back you could have bought a squire strat all the way from china (and 30 years ealier all the way from the US of A). enjoy mate!
You can't do THAT on stage!

im young enuff to be in a blink 182 tribute band, but bugga that!, rather play a few decent covers like GnR, metallica and blk sabbath(dio) and play originals, and dnt worry TMG, all my guitars are tuned to standard, and they are staying that way.
success is fleeting, but artistry lasts forever.
