HNGD from the good ol' US of A

Went to Guitar Centre again today. This time the one in Hollywood. Lots of overpriced CBS Strats and not many old Teles. Was beginning to think I'd be leaving empty handed (the very thought!) when I saw a nice looking Tele. Usual 50s style butterscotch thing. This one was new, had a nice fat neck, Twisted Tele and Broadcaster pickups, ash body, was nice and light and was just $800 US including tax ($1,200 NZ as near as makes no difference). It's a Baja somethin' or other (Mexi). Seems great even though it did break my 'no new guitars' rule. I don't think I'll have to do anything but roll the fretboard edges (feels very new). So, that's my year-out guitar.

Here I am looking gormless.

I like the look of the Baja teles (pronounced "Baha" I think).
Heaps of tone combinations from the 4-way switch and phase button.
And brass sadles. Oh my.
Happy NGD!

More than that wall in the past three years. LOL. Well, I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, it really did tick all the boxes. I was looking for the deal-breaker like a headstock end truss rod adjustment or 22nd fret but couldn't find anything to dislike.

Sure. There's that stuff they used in the 70s which makes a Strat weigh about 11lbs and the lighter stuff. This, at a guess, is no more than 7lbs.

I like the look of the 52 goldtop sitting on your head.

Baja sounds like an awesome guitar what with that big neck and all.

$15k price tag on that but it looked as cool as fuck. There was a young guy looking it over when I arrived. I assumed he'd just been signed. LOL

Just noticed it's a single piece body too. Bonus. :-)

Funny. I only just noticed that button in the top of the volume knob.

Here's a couple of pics of the actual guitar.
