I just finished up the Phoenix Foundation tour with NZSO last week, so I thought I'd share a few photos of the gear we took out.
A Maton SE777. Keith Richards used one of these to record Gimme Shelter.
Due to the orchestra, all the amps had to be isolated off stage.
Fender '64 Deluxe and '69 Deluxe Reverb.
Dirty old Fender Deville (spare amp) and a Vox AC15 hand-wired.
We ran the guitar signals on XLR mic cables using Radial SGI interfaces, which convert an unbalanced signal to balanced and back again. These let you run your audio up to 100m with no deterioration.
Normally for this band we take 6-7 guitars and basses out (flying), but having the luxury of the NZSO truck, we could take anything we wanted. Ended up with 11.
For those that have long memories, the Sooty-master!
Diplomat Jazz and '70s Gibson EB-3.
Jansen Jazzman.
'74 Gibson SG Standard
'65 Gibson SG Junior
My guitar world.
The Maton SE777 again.
'90s Gibson ES-335

Re: The Phoenix Foundation & NZSO Tour - Gear Rundown
Great stuff! Love me some PF, and had heard about this tour, but wasn't able to get to a show unfortunately. I bet it was brilliant!!
That old Maton is a beauty! Lot's of other very nice gear in there too...although I think they might need to invest in more Crowther Audio gear...
