Ok so, how do I get in on this stinky guitar club?

Or have I had stinky guitars all along and never realised?

So any opinions on what's going on here?

These two shows a tide line which made me suspect water. 2&3 show clouding. Everywhere, the finish is sound; it's not flaking or lifting.

This last one is the weirdest of all. I was confident it was a large deposit of dirt but nothing shifts it.

The last one is a bit of paper sticker. If you can't remove it, it possibly suggest that the thing has been resprayed with a very thin layer of some sort of finish. That could then also explain the other cloudy bits as it looks like moisture has been trapped. If the thing is solid, I doubt there was actual contact with water. If it plays well and is structurally sound, then these photos are showing character :)

It is a paper sticker. I was actually referring to the lumpy black deposit covering the full width of the side.
Respray...Hmmmm

Nope, what you have there is oxidation and mould. Best treatment is oxalic acid and scrubbing. This is the best tutorial, I used this technique on a guitar with the same symptoms and it fixed it perfect.

What is more is I bought a biggish bottle of oxalic acid so PM me and I'll send you enough to do the job.

Looking at those stains... it's obvious what has happened... someone took the strings off it and used as a bedpan!!! :-)

That cloudy stuff is mould? Penetrated into the finish or stuck on the finish?

I would say it looks like the finish has been broken/lifted or water damaged so oxidation or mould has got under the finish.

Much moist is my best guess too. But it makes me smile every time I look at it.
