My Ibanez had the adjustment wheel on the back, don't even need to take the rear cover off to adjust it, makes life so much simpler!

yeah, ibanez trems seem to have the 'edge' on the others

You've got to capo the string on, once you've attached the to the trem, and then wind the string on to the tuners. Annoying

Set up right and they can be stable apart from going out of tune palm muting or double stop bends etc. But the mission to get there sucks. Tune, adjust clamp to make trem flush, retune, readjust clamp over and over, etc, etc. Then fine tune a dozen times once locked down. Once it is finally there it stays there if strings are stretched and no problems with the FR's hardware, but yuck. What you gotta do to be able to wang on the whammy bar

p.s. this last one I set up was a particularly bad one to do. it was set up for very heavy strings and dropped tuning, so lots of adjusting to do.

Yeah, thats the issue - if you change string gauge or tuning. Other than that they are a piece of cake. I don't really use mine a whole lot, but I just leave it fully floating with no issues. Tuning stability is way better and when I feel the urge I can divebomb and make squealy noises

dunno, I fitted one to my 339 and never had any problems? They can be a pain to change strings on, best to use a capo else the ends come off the little pegs on the trem.

Your solution:
1. pre-bend the ball end of the string into a curve which helps it to stay on the peg.

I still find they slip off, about the only use my capo gets

I used to change tunings a lot, not so much anymore, either way its not an issue without the locking nut in place.

How do I know if the pots are high quality? (the jack is silky smooth and locks in pretty solid so I reckon thats fine)

I wouldn't bother changing things like pots unless they shit out..you start getting into corksniffer territory with stuff like that. As soon as you use any gain with an amp/pedal that sort of thing is almost redundant

only in a rack case, like adele. Thankful I'm deaf at the mo, missus reckoned you could hear belting out her depressive songs from here. I'd probably have opened a vein.
