Something a little different now folks - my latest toy; a Maton Southern Star 12 string. No I'm not left handed - I use it strung right handed (for those panicking, in the period when they built these Maton made the top bracing symetrical ON 12 strings but NOT on six - so don't try converting an old six) and it works fine right up the neck. Think Leo Kotke, Robbie Basho, Fred Gerlach etc. Love it!!

B45, Maton make great 12s.I bought one in the late 70s but sold it when I got married in 1980........you need to do these things but it hurts. It was the model down from yours no inlays in the headstock, the neck and sound were magic.
Doin' that scrapyard thing.

I've fiddled around on B45-12's Maton and have compared it directly to the B45-12 Gibby he has. The Maton seems nicer to me...
The Gibby is headstock heavy.
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared in the infinite ...

They still make great ones as well - you cannot get the Southern Star any more, but the modern 425 12 string is also rather good - have one as well which Rog hasn't tried yet (Had to have something else to try out to get him back sometime). Cannot see the CW and Messiah versions being too bad either
Still want to try out a Martin D12-28 sometime - have tried the slotted headstock 12 fret one (D12-35???) but don't like them.

Sweet. What do you think about the Lace pups. I have a set here I am looking put into something. Fender want me to pay the same as a small GDP to get a lefty Clapton made. I think I might just order a neck and put them together.
I love that finsh on strats.

The Buddy Guy is the same spec as the old version Eric Clapton. They use active electronics, ie a preamp. You can use Lace sensors without the preamp.
Opinions differ greatly as to whether the new Fender "noiseless" PUPs are better...and whether active is better.
Lots of blah blah blah on the Fender Forum.
I knew waht I wanted! Really wanted the Gold Lace PUPs, and I love the Ash body 2 colour SB on the BG. I had an EC, and liked the sound and way it played, didn't like the colour (red). The BG is my keeper/working axe/favourite/best I've ever had guitar.
(If it had been purple my wife would have wanted me to keep the EC)
Sadly, Fender don't make a lefty BG, and not many of the usual now - I had to wait to get one from the USA.

There is no better/best etc - there's only whatever suits you, or me, whoever.

And yes, my wife does have class, even tho she likes purple.
If I had a purple guitar it would be outa sight if I put it on our purple lounge suite...
