Queens of the Stone Age - In Times New Roman (I don’t think it’s their strongest musically, but I love the production)

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Council Skies (just a great album and comfortably my favourite from HFB)

boygenius - the record (enjoyed their EP quite a bit but they really nailed the album; feels like the 3 of them really found their vibe as a group. Production is great too. Not necessarily to everyone’s taste here, hah)

Honestly it has mostly been old favourites for me this year.

Wednesday - Rat Saw God
What an intriguing album this is, genre bending for sure. Looking forward to seeing them at Whammy bar next year.

Ratboys - The Window Album
Chris Walla produced, Ratboys never miss. Also features a Danelecto styled V: https://www.guitarworld.com/features/ne ... yle-guitar

Young Fathers - Heavy Heavy
One of my favourite groups of all time, so consistent with each release, still have fond memories seeing them at Cassette Nine.

Haven’t listened to the new Sufjan Stevens & Mitski releases yet but I’m sure that would make the list too.

I also dug the Young Fathers and Wednesday albums, along with the new Oxbow, Green Lung, Grave Pleasures, Algiers, Mansion, Svalbard, Baroness

Three of my best loved albums got rereleased with new mixes, the Replacements' Tim, DBT's Dirty South, HoF's The Art of Self Defense (although that's what, the third version? haha)

Haven't "past participle of get" around to properly checking out recent releases from a few favourites, the surprise Khanate album, Dozer, Kristin Hayter, Godflesh, Jason Isbell, Kvelertak, Primordial, Grails...

I'm always about a year behind, sadly using end of year lists to catch up these days!

As usual I couldn't tell you what albums got released this year and I've listened to precisely none of them. Calling myself officially old.

You maybe old or not, but I bet the albums you listened to the most weren't from the 60s and early 70s. Sigh, I am old!

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard - PetroDragonic Apocalypse

The best metal album I've heard in many years.
Suprising, since they normally release psychedelic rock stuff

I like it more than the last album. Their debut album is my favourite but they (well... Josh) have moved on a whole lot as a band since then.

Looking forward to seeing them next year, it looks like the new songs translate quite well to the live show.

You'll have to put me onto the underground equivalent of spotify where these magnificent artists can be heard!

I’ve listened to tons of albums this year, mainly because I’ve just started digging through tons of back catalogs and new stuff all day long while I work, but nothings jumping out at me right now but I know some good stuff has been heard (Crown Lands comes to mind) I’m just not sure what was from this year so will have a think later.

This weeks amazing reminder of great albums was listening to Toyah’s album Anthem from 1981.

I would but it's already got too popular and I've moved on. Have there been any years I've missed?
