I challenge you to find a modern worship song without dotted 8th delay on it ;)
Ah, right, got it! I'll take your word for it... that's one gauntlet I'm more than happy to leave on the floor.

Sadly the era of awesome christian music is well behind us, altho' it looks like Carman is staging a comeback!! Hopefully he starts making gems like this again!

Of course, Buddy Guy, who influenced Clapton and Hendrix and many many others, is still alive and putting out albums is surely next!

I think it'll need to be a singer/guitarist to stand any chance of getting the attention needed to break out and be remembered.

Right now I'd say someone like Ed Sheeran. He's probably done more to get kids playing guitars and wanting to fill Stadiums than most others. His biggest problem though will be that unless he dies right now he's going to have to keep on churning out massive selling albums and hoping he stays as popular as he is now or he'll just fade out (and I suspect at some point he'll just retire)

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

I'm suprised I haven't seen more mention of Jimi Page? He would be a major influence for modern rock.

However, I would say EVH.
It's unquestionable how much influence on music and technique Hendrix had and i'd say the only gutarist that has been as ground breaking would be EVH.
The best things in life are actually really expensive!

Interesting to note just how much love John Mayer has in this thread, must say that has been surprising to me. I would have said Slash would have inspired more people to pick up a guitar than JM, but who really knows aye.
