Absolutely,

If it was a single desert island disc it would have to be Jimi.

Eh, blues scale was around before he was. Did some cool stuff though, obviously. I think I like that he basically worshipped bob dylan and he made a guitar work, even though it wasn’t designed to work that way.

Before him Hank Marvin was a guitar hero. TFF Hendrix.

For me he's always been amazing, and inspired my two favourite guitarists, Gilmour and Frusciante, really need to learn some Hendrix...

That delicate interweaving of rhythm and lead that he did (clean, neck pickup stuff) is one of my favourite electric guitar things. But I'm crap at it....

Hendrix's rhythm playing is truly inspiring. I don't know if he was the first to popularise that style but I love it!

Makes perfect sense! Some have ruined the style, others have improved it. As usual it's all down to personal taste.

It all comes from somewhere. Standing on the shoulders of giants an' all that malarkey.

His cover of Born Under A Bad sign, to me is perfect phrasing and tone. He was well ahead of his time in my opinion.

 and  for me

have never owned (or maybe even heard) a hendrix album so my only exposure is through the "hits" that get played on the radio. I like everything I have heard but not enough to go out and actively listen to more. Might go on spotify and check some stuff out. I think the barrier for me over the years has been his voice, it does nothing at all for me so going deeper into the guitar playing side hasn't happened

I've talked to people who criticise him for being sloppy, but his playing was way too clever for it not to be intentional. I love the way he could play around with the beat and yet snap right back in place as soon as it was needed.
