Any EDM fans in the house?
More of a fan of the live band stuff rather than DJ's...shapeshifter, pendulum, qemists etc..

Electronic Death Metal?
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Eagles of Death Metal are pretty much false advertising. They're people, not Eagles, and I wouldn't call them Metal either.

No they are the Eagles (think Hotel California) of Death Metal.null_pointer wrote:Eagles of Death Metal are pretty much false advertising. They're people, not Eagles, and I wouldn't call them Metal either.

Re: Any EDM fans in the house?
depends, I'm not really up with the terms you kids use. I've always been into house, right from the start. Still listen to faithless now. New Order I'd also class as edm, one of the early exponents (not those exponents!). Love a bit of triphop, bought all of massive attacks albums, usually when they came out. EBTG, loved them before the went dance as well as after and less mainstream artists too.
No luck with your sick drummer then.

Re: Any EDM fans in the house?
Not sure if it qualifies, but in the late 90's /early 00's i was pretty into that kinda electronic stuff. Modjo, bassment jaxxx, groove armada, daft punk, moby, fatboy slim etc. owned a zillion Gatecrasher CD's haha, but I guess I was an early 20's boyracer.
Was kinda funny, I used to hang out with my racer mates on Friday night, listen to all the electronic stuff and cruise around, then go to gigs with my bogan mates and hang out at hardcore shoes on Saturdays haha.

Re: Any EDM fans in the house?
Eagles of Death Metal, as mentioned earlier, are a class act.
I had an electronica phase some years ago and I've (mostly) grown out of it but still listen to university radio whenever I'm in the car and that's techno about half the time so I'm fine with it. I'm not really au fait with the genres that I could pick the difference between dubstep, brostep, acid wash, dark house or dirty shed or whatever. As long as it's not pop chart radio with autotuned vocals over the top I'm happy.
But yeah if I'm putting on an album at home it's pretty unlikely to be doof doof.

I think it's um... Eating Distilled Mescalin. The kind of music which makes you dance like you're EDM.willow13 wrote:even with all the brilliant replies I still have no idea what EDM stands for .... I think I am probably better off not know
