Best bass I’ve ever played, hands down.

9 lb 5 string. You read that right. 9lb. It’s actually the lightest bass I’ve owned in the last wee while, including my 4 string Jazz.

It’s a Stingray Special 5HH and it sounds spectacular, the neck is perfect and a dream to play.

Super fucked off with myself though, as I overtightened one of the screws changing out for strap locks and snapped the head off. FML.

B string is tight and growly, and blends beautifully with the others. No quiet g string problem, and the preamp sounds open and awesome, with none of the gross upper mid gank the old 3 bands have. As with all the dual pickup Rays, the 1st, 2nd, and 4th switch positions are to die for with the 5th meh and the 3rd gross.
What did you string it with?

Haven’t restrung yet, comes with Ernie Ball Slinky Lights. Will likely do with some DR Hi Beams when the strings lose their bite, which knowing Ernie Ball strings should be at most 5 hours.

I may yet – got some hanging about. I'm into my roundwounds at the moment.

Mesa Pre has very nice nice tones, but my Tonehammer still rules the roost.
Got one of those little Ampeg Classic Analog Pedals – excellent for instantly coping the Ampeg vibe.

Sure did!
That was a fun one, but that RB4 was probably the one I'd have preferred

“Yes, it has been set up wonderfully, for me. Not you. So you’ll need to change it all anyway.”
