Nice clip. But is it stereo..?
you can SEE its mono  :P
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

I preferred the second one too, by a loooong way. Simply because it sounds how the Taylor actually sounds in a room. The first clip sounds like a different guitar to me. My wife preferred the first clip, because she found it more bass-y.

The first clip is of course recorded straight into the guitar input of the Fast Track, and the second clip is the mic'd one.

...Oh, and it's totally mono. For real. :-) (At least that's how I have the input set).

Listening again, the first one sounds congested to me. I'm a bit bummed that that's what people will hear when I play this guitar live.

Like this idea! But clip 2 all the way.

You preferred #1 didn't you? :P
Yep. Not a bad idea provided you don't get phasing issues. The mic maintains the transient content which helps nullify the naffness of the piezo. Another thing that could sound quite cool would be compressing the beegeezus out of the DI'd signal but leaving the mic relatively clean. Mix to taste.

Other than verb, how do you imagine it will "spread across the mix"? DI out of a guitar is mono. No meme intended.

Also, if you compress the DI'd signal under the miked signal, pan them to the same place or it won't really work. The idea is to combine the best bits of both.

Well, it's not really because there'll be the PA and the room (and how many people in the room) to contend with as well. Oh, and where people are sitting and so on.

But it's a pretty good sound already, just not as good as the miked sound.

Out of curiosity, if you're going to play in church, where presumably you won't be doing any Wild Man of Rock antics, why can't you mike it up?
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

I guess we could! It's just convenient to go through the DI. But you make good points.

Also that DI sound would improve with
A: A quality DI with a transformer, which would help the transients
B: some EQ to clean up the boxiness and slightly splaty top end
C: provided that you have a decent desk, like an Allen & Heath, soundcraft or Midas, a better preamp than the m-audio

So your live sound may well be a fair bit better

Sometimes it's nice to grab a little low end from the DI and add it to the mix.

I like the percussiveness of the first one and the brightness of the second.......

what I used to do with recording acoustic was have a mike by the sound hole and also have one behind/side the player roughly where their elbow is (without hitting it obviously) pointing at the corner where the side and back of the guitar meet. It would pick up some really nice deep tones that when mixed (quite low levels) with the sound hole one to really fatten it all up
If Less is More Then Just Think How Much More More would be
