Sade "Smooth Operator"

Post by foal30 »

Here is the bass line. I've separated it out into parts.

Quarter note triplets are 3 notes to 2 beats, Eigth note triplets are 3 notes to one beat :o

Nice song, clever band, they did some good tunes. This track is off their first album Diamond Life. Have a go.

Can't wait... LOL.

Admire your ability to transcribe like that. My ex-Mrs could read, write and transcribe like it was the most natural thing in the world to her. She'd make extra cash writing 'the dots' for local, cheesy cabaret artists. I once gave her the music for Randy Rhoads' 'Dee' which I'd been fumbling my way through for months and she just played it like it was nothing. Mind you, it was on the organ so sounded fucking shit. Like Ozzy meets Blackpool.

I had two Marshall stacks in the matrimonial bedroom. We're divorced now... :-)

I'm a hack. I have had to work and work at it. But like ear training it is a practisble skill if that makes sense.

Have worked with a couple of guys who are amazing at hearing/transcribing. It's a wonderful skill for any player.
