This is turning into a bit of an ibanez resto thread.
A Korean rg321 in a really cool blue colour has arrived, and now it's time to rip into it.
Think this was cosmo black at some stage. Quite a bit of corrosion going on.
Some meh tier playing marks I get to try buff out.
Cloudy knob.
Colour
Good frets - These will be cleaned up and that's it
Good whack of dust. Suggests it was sitting a while.
Bridge pickup. R model, apparently.
No treasure in here.
5 way thingy looks heaps chunkier than the plastic unit in the ex350 (and indonesian rg321).
Removing neck pickup reveals a barcode telling us about an ibane.
No other treasure here though, just an F model pickup with a D on it (???).
Colour
Ahh. More marks to buff out.
Let's mask up the important bits and get to it.
Everything is in about a thousand pieces and ready to go.
Even covered in wax it looks cool. Bonus round: Turning pickups upside down works better than trying to mask the magnet side we see.
Satin metallic finish, hmm . . . .
So while all the wax is crusting up nicely (jb alert), it's time t-... Urh, yeah. This.
Frets always turn these things black.
I will do more werk to it today. Not sure if torn cartilege or (another) cracked rib way up top, but if it becomes a problem, progress will slow.
